I'm gonna have to disagree with one thing for sure....The Rock Hall of Fame isn't a way for record companies to sell more CD's. The artists that have been inducted don't need this to sell CD's, they are household names that do well enough on their own. Do you think the Stones, the Ramones, the Beatles, Elvis Presley, Tom Petty, Madonna, The Police, Van Halen, AC/DC, Aerosmith, and Queen, just to name a few need the place like the rock hall of fame to sell records? Seriously?

Pistols had the right idea
<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">What I was trying to point out is that artists are voted into the hall of fame largely by record execs and others that thru recording or publishing contracts with the people named above make money. The above acts have sold plenty or records, but their prime years are behind them. They need publicity like being on a movie soundtrack, getting arrested or going into the hall of fame to see a spike in their back catalog sales. The hall of fame is a marketing tool just like all the awards shows on tv for music and movies, though some have a little more integrity than others.Originally posted by wolfpits:
